1) To prevent accidents and cases of ringing-related ill health by managing the health and safety risks in the tower
Action/Arrangements: Relevant risk assessments completed and regularly reviewed. Actions arising out of those assessments implemented.
2) To provide clear instructions and information, and adequate training, to ensure ringers are competent
Action/Arrangements: Ringers and visitors to the tower given necessary health and safety induction and provided with appropriate training and personal protective equipment.
3) To engage and consult with ringers on day-to-day health and safety conditions
Action/Arrangements: Ringers consulted on health and safety matters as they arise and as part of H&S reviews.
4) To implement emergency procedures - evacuation in case of fire or other significant incident.
Action/Arrangements: Escape routes well signed and kept clear.
5) To maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment and machinery, and ensure safe storage/use of substances.
Action/Arrangements: System in place for routine inspections and testing of bell installation, and for ensuring that action is taken to address any defects.
