Social Media Template

Description: For this assignment, I chose to make two templates that could be used for social media: a pre-game template and a post-game template. I worked using one of my favorite soccer teams Tottenham as the model and did a rebrand for their social media graphics. I've done more reserved graphics in the past, so I wanted to challenge myself with something a bit more bold.

The idea was to create something to be used to post scores and a photo from the game and be able to drop those elements in for each individual game. For the pre-game, dropping the opposing team's logo in the rectangle with a clipping mask and changing the date makes it simple to use each week.

Photoshop: The main tools I used are listed below.

  • Texture layering

  • Gaussian blur

  • Clipping mask

  • Type tool

  • Select subject

  • Rectangle tool

  • Text effects- drop shadow, outer glow and stroke

  • Brush tool

Font: James Stroker, regular; Bebas Neue, bold; Bababoom, regular.

Revisions: Some of the feedback that I received on this exhibit was to provide a little more space around the edges and to make the items on the edges consistent in spacing. For the revision, I pulled everything away from the edges a bit more and applied a uniform 3/4 inch border. It was also suggested to change the font on the post-game design to the same as the on the pre-game template. Because the team logo box shares the same font on both, I decided to keep the font. The font on the post-game graphic is different to symbolize a difference in energy between the pre-game and post-game graphics.

Some of the other changes that were made were to give the space between the word "final" and the team box and scores. Some of the other feedback was to change the size of the box that the logos were clipped into. Although that feedback made sense, this was a stylistic decision that is featured quite a bit in sports social media graphics. These were designed specifically for Twitter, which is why a 16:9 aspect ratio was used in these designs.
