Festina Advert
Attempt No. 1 Description: For this assignment, I chose an the photo included of the Festina watch. I thought this was already a fantastic macro shot and it needed just a few tweaks to be suitable for an ad. I made subtle tweaks, but ones that I felt would bring out the watch more and make it the center of attention.
I liked the wood table in the background, but I found myself looking at it as much as the watch, so I added some gaussian blur and brought up the saturation and contrast so the background still had the color and feel of a nice wood table, but without as much detail. I also added the text "time is timeless" which is admittedly a little clique, but I think it represents how this silhouette of watch can be timeless. I matched the Festina type for the "time is" section because it's the main thing you read, and then I chose a more elegant font for the words timeless.
Font: James Stroker, regular; Baskerville, semibold.

In my revision of this design, I tweaked a few things based on the suggestions of my peers and instructor. I changed the alignment of the text at the top to match the logo at the bottom. Also with the text, I added an outer glow and drop shadow to "time is" to make it pop out a bit more. The font of timeless was changed to be a little more classic looking, also, only the T is capitalized. Finally, I added a mask on "timeless" and brushed away a bit of the text to hide under "time is".
