Gerudo Link from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The top base and appliques were made of two types of cotton fabric along with the red base of the belt. The blue fabric, trimming were a polyester stretch.

I began Gerudo Link by making a pattern out of saran wrap and duct tape and drawing out the shapes while it was on my body. Following that I traced it onto my chosen fabric and hemmed on seams leaving the back open for an added zipper. After that I added the blue ruffled trim at the base created the ruffles by pinning folds every two inches and then sewing. Next I added the gold trim to cover the seam. The sleeves were measured and cut and each end was attached to the same gold trim. Velcro was placed on the inside of both ends of the sleeve under the gold trim to allow for an adjustable fit and for my wrists to fit through the gold cuffing.

Next I began to work on the small details. I ordered a pair of purple harem pants off of amazon and created a stencil out of stock card of the moon designs on Links pants and used a purple acrylic paint to stencil it on to the pants.

All other patterning for appliques was first done in paper to assure a proper placement and sizing and then traced on fabric and sewn or glued on depending on fabric or foam. Following this I also painted on the white circles onto both the sleeves and the blue ruffles and used the gold trimming to create the halter neck which had a snap hidden underneath the square design to make it removable around my neck.

The belt/sash has a foam base and was then covered in the same fabric as the top. I wanted a structured belt that wouldn’t ride up or have to be readjusted when I sat and stood, and to hide any unwanted stomach curves. It comes apart at the side with three snaps. Since this outfit already has many pieces, I ended up connecting the red sash to the belt to keep pieces together. I sewed on the gold tassel trimming and then in foam painted and added the gold detailing to the belt. I also found some round half spheres that were painted gold and added for detailing.

The shoes were white knockoff toms bought from Walmart and then painted and glued on foam half covers that I half cone shaped to a point to create that elf shoe.

The head circlet was of elastic string and beads.

The Shika slate was a 3D printed phone case prop from Senpie3D on etsy and then I painted and embellished.

Maz Kanata from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Flow of work:

After watching days and days of videos. My husband (Matt Banks) and friend (Spencer Sparks) helped me make a full head casting so I could sculpt the mask. The casting was made from silicone and plaster. I used plastaline clay to sculpt the mask and then had help from my husband to create the mold. Then poured dragon skin silicone for the mask, trimmed, and painted with alcohol based makeup.

The belt, shirt, shoes and pants were purchased from a thrift shop then altered. I added weather tripping into the collar to round it out, trimmed and hemmed the vest then dyed it grey, shortened the pants, & made belt loops. The leg warmers were crocheted with several different yarns. Belt purchased but I made the buckle from polymer clay.

The goggles were made from broken headphones, foam, plastic, and some parts picked up from the hardware store.

Most of the jewelry was purchased however I did receive a custom bracelet from Kristy Gary and I made two bracelets one from polymer clay and the other from a tin can.

Zero from Code Geass

I found the helmet pattern provided by The Punished Props Academy and used my 3D Printer to print the helmet in 4 pieces. Each of the back movable pieces, and the 2 parts for the main body. I then filled and sanded to my desired finish, and painted. The visor proved to be a big issue as I had no way of Vacuforming one myself, but I was lucky enough to receive some help with that from another member of the community, RJ. After the helmet was complete I added some foam and elastic to the inside to finished it off. For the rest of the costume, I purchased with custom measurements from EZCosplay. I then replaced the Undershirt, Gloves, and Scarf as I wanted a better match to my reference. I also painted some boots to complete the look.
