Prop: Kill la Kill Scissor Blade

Description: Sculpted from XPS foam, and hardened with fiberglass. It was then smoothed with Bondo and glazing putty. The finish is 15 coats of automotive lacquer sprayed from a detail gun, and polished to a beautiful shine. This blade represents approximately 50 hours of work, including over 16 hours of paint time to get the multi layer "life fiber" effect.

Prop: Horizon Zero Dawn Bird

Description: The wings themselves are actually 25” each from mid back. The tail piece is also 25”: it is separate and attached at the back with a 1” parachute clip. The legs are made of 1”, heat bent, PVC pipe. The torso and wings are structured with 1” and ¼” wooden dowels, respectively. The wings are basic pulleys that are “opened” by pulling a leather strap on the bird’s back and securing it over a nail mid-spine. The head is a Styrofoam ball and the entire armature is covered in craft/EVA foam that was pieced together by tracing screenshots of the models on a monitor. The shoulder strap/mount is made of PVC and adjustable nylon strapping. A shoulder brace (with the game’s title sewn on) prevents the mount from slipping too close to the neck and provides comfort. There is an optional arm mount in case the shoulder mount becomes uncomfortable. It was painted with a base layer of white Rustoleum, with black, gold, and blue accents being in acrylic. Blue Cyberlox accents emulate the “Override” technique from in-game.
