Eye protection:
Over the past year we have been working on our guidance for the use of eye protection. This came about because of the changes to the eye protection standards and markings.
GL342 Eye and Face protection in D&T, Food and Art is the main guide and eye protection is identified in many of the MRATs.
There is no requirement to dispose of or stop using eye protection that carries the EN166 markings, but you may find that, when purchasing new eye protection equipment, it comes with the new markings.
The following table shows the old markings against the corresponding new markings. We would expect, in D&T the highlighted markings to be the most often used.
We have purchased a wide selection of eye protection, of different types and from a range of manufacturers, this will feed into guidance in an updated version of GL342 as soon as possible.
