PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), also known as chronic diseases, tend to be of long duration and are the result of a combination of genetic, physiological, environmental and behavioural factors.
The main types of NCD are cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma) and diabetes.

PHILPEN REPORTS QUARTER 1
For the first quarter, 2,699 patients aged 25-39 years old were assessed for non-communicable diseases, 1186 of which are male and 1513 are female. There were also 4,286 patients aged 40-59 years old who were assessed for NCDs, 2,007 of which are male and 2,279 are female. The 4,672 patients aged 60 and above were also screened for NCDs, 1,985 of which are male and 2,687 of which are female.
For Hypertension, a total of 2,644 patients diagnosed and 2,620 were managed. Of the 2,644, 1,110 were male. Of which, 75 were aged 25-39 years old; 485 were aged 40-59 years old and 550 were 60 and above. There were also 1,534 females diagnosed. Of which, 92 were aged 25-39 years old, 604 were aged 40-59 years old and 838 were aged 60 and above.
For Diabetes, a total of 303 patients diagnosed and all were managed. Of the 303, 66 were male. Of which, 1 was aged 25-39 years old; 29 were aged 40-59 years old and 36 were 60 and above. There were also 89 females diagnosed. Of which, 7 were aged 25-39 years old, 35 were aged 40-59 years old and 47 were aged 60 and above.
Of the 11,657 patients assessed, 1451 were noted to be high risk adults with >30% Cardiovascular Disease Risk. There were 34 males aged 25-39 years old, 256 males aged 40-59 years old and 602 males aged 60 and above to be assessed as High risk. There were 40 females aged 25-39 years old, 312 females were aged 40-59 years old and 497 were aged 60 and above to be assessed as high risk.
Among the 11,657 patients assessed, 51 are current smokers. There were 42 male and 9 female patients. There were also 244 patients who are binge drinkers, 69 were male and 53 were female. Two hundred forty-six were patients who are physically inactive, 83 were male and 163 were female. Of the 11,657 patients, 304 were noted to be overweight or obese, where 88 of them were male and 216 were female.
PHILPEN REPORTS QUARTER 2
For the second quarter, 3,890 patients aged 25-39 years old were assessed for non-communicable diseases, 1,580 of which are male and 2,310 are female. There were also 4,186 patients aged 40-59 years old who were assessed for NCDs, 1,822 of which are male and 2,364 are female. The 5,890 patients aged 60 and above were also screened for NCDs, 2,528 of which are male and 3,362 of which are female.
For Hypertension, a total of 4,996 patients diagnosed and 4,985 were managed. Of the 4,996, 2,166 were male. Of which, 533 were aged 25-39 years old; 456 were aged 40-59 years old and 1,177 were 60 and above. There were also 2,830 females diagnosed. Of which, 630 were aged 25-39 years old, 620 were aged 40-59 years old and 1,580 were aged 60 and above.
For Diabetes, a total of 401 patients diagnosed and all were managed. Of the 303, 155 were male. Of which, 29 were aged 25-39 years old; 47 were aged 40-59 years old and 79 were 60 and above. There were also 246 females diagnosed. Of which, 31 were aged 25-39 years old, 87 were aged 40-59 years old and 128 were aged 60 and above.
Of the 13,966 patients assessed, 2,275 were noted to be high risk adults with >30% Cardiovascular Disease Risk. There were 153 males aged 25-39 years old, 207 males aged 40-59 years old and 635 males aged 60 and above to be assessed as High risk. There were 174 females aged 25-39 years old, 257 females were aged 40-59 years old and 849 were aged 60 and above to be assessed as high risk.
Among the 13,996 patients assessed, 838 are current smokers. There were 705 male and 133 female patients. There were also 2,063 patients who are binge drinkers, 1,062 were male and 1,001 were female. Two thousand twenty-one were patients who are physically inactive, 807 were male and 1214 were female. Of the 13,996 patients, 1910 were noted to be overweight or obese, where 690 of them were male and 1220 were female.
