The number of food establishments securing sanitary permits to operate has reached 4,692, covering 100% of establishments holding Mayor's Permits. The City has diligently enforced strict compliance with business permits and requirements, conducting door-to-door joint inspections for weeks to ensure adherence to sanitation code provisions within the city proper.
The comprehensive implementation of these measures, along with the issuance of citation tickets, has resulted in increased compliance among establishments. To further enhance awareness, regular food handlers' orientations are conducted at the City Health conference room. Simultaneously, sanitation inspectors intensify campaigns on proper handwashing and food handling practices.
Scheduled orientations are extended to barangays, with an estimated 18,846 attendees reported for the food handlers' orientation sessions. Health certificates, a prerequisite for food handlers, are issued upon presentation of an x-ray result (not exceeding a year old) and a stool exam result (not exceeding six months).
and Level 3 sources are subject to monthly assessments. The identification and sampling of water sources are essential components of this monitoring process.

The number of food establishments securing a sanitary permit to operate has increased 9% of the establishments with Mayor’s Permit. The strict implementation of business permits and requirements was enforced in coordination with other departments. Activities such as joint inspections conducted to ensure compliance among establishments within the city proper. The issuance of citation tickets has encouraged most establishments to comply with the provisions of the Sanitation Code.
Food handler orientations were conducted regularly at the City Health conference room. Sanitation inspectors have intensified the food handler campaign, focusing on proper handwashing practices. Orientations in the barangays are scheduled and conducted regularly. An estimated 21,451 individuals attended food handler’s orientations which increased 15.49% from the previous year.
To secure a health certificate, food handlers or applicants must present an x-ray result not older than one year and a stool exam result not older than six months, with the prerequisite of attending a basic food handler orientation before the issuance of the health certificate.
In the last quarter of 2023, a significant annual increase of 90.33% was noted, with 18,470 food handlers securing health certificates, up from 9,707 the previous year. The city remains committed to upholding stringent standards for food safety and hygiene.
