PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Administrative Order No.34-A, s 2000, the Adolescent and Youth Health Policy was issued in April 2000. It created the Adolescent and Youth Health Sub- Program under the Family Health Program. It envisioned well-informed empowered, responsible and healthy adolescents and youth. The mission was to ensure that all adolescents and youth have access to quality comprehensive health care and services in an adolescent and youth-friendly environment.
Due to a rise in the number of adolescents and increase in risky behaviors among Filipino adolescents over the years, AO 34-A was revised and aligned with the goals of Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (KP) thus Administrative Order 2013- 0013 was issued. It aims to achieve the following health outcomes among adolescents: (1) Healthy Development (2) Healthy Nutrition (3) Sexual and Reproductive Health (4) Reduction of Substance Use (5) Reduction of Injuries and Mortality, Morbidity and Psychosocial Consequences of Injuries (6) Reduction of all Forms of Violence and Mortality, Morbidity and Psychosocial Consequences of Violence and (7) Mental Health.
In 2023, the Adolescent Health and Development Program in Ormoc City continued its commitment to fostering the holistic well-being of adolescents through a series of impactful activities and initiatives. The program, driven by a vision of nurturing empowered and healthy young individuals, aimed to address the unique challenges faced by adolescents in their journey towards adulthood.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND MILESTONES
PROMOTING COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH EDUCATION:
Conducted regular workshops and seminars in schools to educate adolescents on crucial topics such as reproductive health, mental health, and healthy lifestyle choices.
Collaborated with other agencies involved in delivering adolescent services to ensure accurate and up-to-date information was disseminated.
ACCESS TO REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES:
Partnered with the six district health centers to provide easily accessible reproductive health services to adolescents.
Organized awareness campaigns to reduce stigma around seeking reproductive health care and to encourage responsible behaviors.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND ADVOCACY
Engaged with parents, teachers, and community leaders through town hall meetings and workshops to foster a supportive environment for adolescent development.
Advocated for policy changes and resources to enhance adolescent health programs.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Ormoc City has demonstrated unwavering dedication to addressing adolescent health issues and concerns, recognizing the vital role of Ormocanon youth play in shaping the city’s future. Through the robust implementation of the Adolescent Health and Development Program (AHDP) under the City Health Department, LGU Ormoc has consistently prioritized the well-being of its youth by fostering accessible, inclusive, and responsive health services.
Guided by the vision of a healthier and more empowered Ormocanon youth, LGU Ormoc has allocated resources through the Healthy Community Playbook implementation and provided strong policy support for initiatives that tackle the multifaceted challenges faced by adolescents through the passing of ordinance on the Key Assistance for Developing Adolescents (KADA) Network.
The city’s commitment is evident in the continuous training of healthcare providers and peer educators, ensuring that adolescent-friendly services are available at each District Health Centers. Collaborations with schools, community leaders, and youth organizations further emphasize the city's holistic approach to empowering the youth with knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
Moreover, LGU Ormoc actively engages Ormocanon youth in program planning and implementation, valuing their voices and perspectives in shaping health interventions. Flagship events, such as youth camp leadership summits, and peer education programs, highlight the city's proactive stance in promoting youth leadership and peer-led advocacy in health.
Through the Adolescent Health and Development Program, LGU Ormoc affirms its steadfast commitment to nurturing a generation of healthy, informed, and resilient Ormocanon youth, proving that the city's future is in capable and caring hands. This dedication not only addresses immediate health concerns but also builds a legacy of sustainability and inclusivity in public health services.
