ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND MILESTONES
With the landmark installation of the m-PIMA HIV-1/2 Viral Load Machine in the last month of 2022, our Local Government Unit has paved the way for cutting-edge services set to commence in 2023. This technological advancement marks a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing healthcare capabilities and underscores our dedication to staying at the forefront of HIV/AIDS management in Region 8.
Procurement of HIV and Syphilis Antibody Test kits by the Ormoc City Health Department Primary Care Facility is undertaken with a focused purpose- early detection leading to swift linkage to care and treatment. The acquisition of these test kits is instrumental in preserving non-reactive statuses, emphasizing our commitment to proactive healthcare interventions.
The primary group tasked to provide treatment, care, and support services to PLHIV, as well as to implement policies and guidelines on matters relating to HIV and AIDS
A separate room from Social Hygiene Clinic exclusive for clients for HIV screening/counseling, consultation and access of anti-retro viral drug and other HIV related activities.
MOBILIZATION OF PEER EDUCATORS AND ADOLESCENTS

MEDIA CAMPAIGN AND BROADCASTING
The media assumes a pivotal role in the ongoing battle against HIV/AIDS, serving as a potent and influential platform for raising awareness. Through dynamic avenues like slogans, radio broadcasts, television, and various social media channels such as Facebook and YouTube, the media becomes a powerful ally in disseminating crucial information and fostering a widespread understanding of HIV/AIDS within the community.
INTENSIFYING HIV AWARENESS AND COUNSELING
The "It Starts With Me" campaign serves as a proactive initiative to promote HIV testing and mitigate the risk of HIV infection. The Test-Treat-Protect framework, integral to the campaign, emphasizes individual responsibility in halting the spread of HIV. By fostering a sense of personal accountability, the campaign not only encourages widespread testing but also contributes to reducing stigma and dismantling barriers to accessing vital HIV services.
According to the latest data from our HIV program, significant strides have been made towards these targets:
Number of Persons Living with HIV Enrolled in Antiretroviral Therapy (ART): Achieved (Yes). Currently, there are 157 active cases enrolled in ART. This indicates that 90% of PLHIV diagnosed with HIV are receiving the crucial antiretroviral treatment needed to manage their condition and prevent disease progression.
Number of Persons Living with HIV Who Know Their Status: Achieved (Yes). The data confirms that 90% of PLHIV are aware of their HIV status, marking a critical achievement in early diagnosis and access to healthcare services.
Number of Persons Living with HIV Virally Suppressed: Not Achieved (No). Out of the 157 PLHIV enrolled in ART for more than 6 months, only 49 individuals have achieved viral suppression, meaning their viral loads are undetectable. This represents a significant step towards the third 90 target but falls short of the intended goal of 90% viral suppression among those on ART.
The ultimate goal for all PLHIV is to achieve and sustain undetectable viral loads through consistent adherence to antiretroviral therapy. Viral suppression not only improves individual health outcomes but also reduces the risk of HIV transmission to others, thereby contributing to the broader goal of HIV control and prevention.
Last December 19, 2023, the Ormoc City Public Oval transformed into a vibrant tapestry of colors and voices, with unity and resilience as together they commence the celebration of World Aids Day (WAD).
At 5:30 am in the morning, healthcare professionals, PLHIV, DepEd personnel and passionate advocates shared stirring speeches, echoing hope, and dispelling stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.
A short program and story of courage of PLHIV resonated, affirming that compassion and understanding are the greatest tools in combating misconceptions.
A candlelight illuminated the morning, symbolizing remembrance and support for those affected by HIV/AIDS. Voices lifted in harmony, fostering an atmosphere of acceptance and empathy that lingered long after the event ended, marking a significant step towards a world free of discrimination and full of compassion.
To a free stigma community against HIV/ AIDS.
