The Men's Health Program is a holistic initiative dedicated to promoting the overall well-being and health of men. Tailored to address the unique health challenges and needs of men, this program encompasses a range of preventive, educational, and support services. It encourages men to prioritize their health, fostering awareness about lifestyle choices, preventive screenings, and early interventions.
Key components of the program include promoting healthy lifestyles, raising awareness about common men's health issues, encouraging regular health check-ups, and providing resources for mental health and emotional well-being. By engaging men in proactive health practices, the program aims to reduce the risk of preventable illnesses, enhance overall quality of life, and contribute to a healthier and more resilient community.

To honor National Men’s Health Month, Ormoc City has dedicated June to celebrating and promoting the health of fathers and all men in the community. In line with this initiative, the City Health Department organized a special event on June 25, 2024: a 5-kilometer Fun Walk with a Twist. This event was designed to encourage men to take charge of their health while fostering a sense of community.
The Fun Walk began at the Ormoc City Stage and featured a unique route that included three engaging stations: Anilao Bridge, Punta Coastal View of Mt. Magsanga, and Ormoc City Plaza “I Love Ormoc.” Participants were encouraged to take photographs at each station, which were then shared on Facebook. The three photos with the most likes were chosen as winners, and results were announced on June 30.

The morning event concluded with an invigorating Zumba Fitness session led by Zin Jo Arbis, further promoting physical activity and well-being. This celebration was not only a step towards healthier lifestyles but also a reminder of the importance of men’s health in our community.
The second part of the program aimed to raise awareness among a broader audience. On that day, all LGU employees participated by wearing blue, from blue shirts and accessories to full head-to-toe blue attire, allowing for a more casual dress code.
Additionally, a Blue Light Booth Program was set up at the New City Hall, 2nd Floor Multipurpose Hall. This initiative further promoted men’s health awareness and engaged the community in meaningful conversations about health and well-being.
Taking proactive steps toward a healthy lifestyle can significantly enhance one's well-being and longevity. One crucial aspect of maintaining good health is undergoing regular screening tests. A Wellness Check-up for Men, conducted in collaboration with the Ormoc City Medical Society, is designed to help identify potential health issues early.
Dr. Ernesto Manuel Romero Jr., a specialist in the Genito-Urinary Tract, offers valuable insights into prostate cancer through his presentation, Tayo na – Man Men: Prostate Cancer Awareness. He emphasizes that early detection is key to prevention, and recommends annual check-ups starting at age 40 to effectively monitor and manage prostate cancer risks.
