The National Leprosy Control Program (NLCP) is a multi-agency effort to control Leprosy in the country with private and public partnership in achieving its goals to lessen the burden of the disease.
The status of leprosy cases in Ormoc City has been considered to be not a public threat anymore, thus making this disease a less priority health problem. From a total of 6 number of new leprosy cases identified for 2022, it was reduced to 3 new cases for 2023, therefore resulting to the decrease of Leprosy Prevalence rate from 0.33 to 0.16 per 10,000 population in 2023 as shown in the table on the next page.
