Station 150th Anniversary Day
Station 150th Anniversary Day
Friday 2nd August 2024
2nd August 2024 saw the one hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the station which was marked in style by the Friends Of... group who hosted a fair and ceremony at the station including the unveiling of a commemorative blue plaque funded by Castletown Heritage at the station attended by the Lieutenant Governor Sir John Lorimer and Lady Lorimer and a host of distinguished invited guests.
Across the day No.5 Mona was on display and the Foxdale Coach provided shuttle rides with No.24 Betsy and No.25 Sprout providing motive power also offering a rare opportunity to see these small shunting locomotives in use. Despite the poor weather later in the day the event was a great success and saw the launch of the anniversary guide book penned by the volunteer group secretary Grant Taylor.
