Career Kamp

CareerKamp is designed to help students select a career, create a career path, choose an education that will lead to employment in that career, meet recruiters who hire qualified applicants and determine how much employees can earn in this career. Ⓒ 2019 DRG

CareerKamp will operate during school year holidays when the students are on Christmas, reading breaks, summer vacation and any times students are not in their formal education periods. Each CareerKamp class will accept 10 students paying $500 for a 5 day work week and receive information on 2 different companies per day for 5 days or exposure to 10 different companies. CareerKamp is a formalized version of a “Job Shadow” where a student does not have any idea of what jobs are available, what subjects to take to prepare for that job or gain interview experience to feel comfortable in a future interview.

Parents want the best for their children and are quite prepared to pay a fee to help them select the best career choice. Companies are happy to provide a 3 hr experience to explain their company, where they fit, what subjects they expect candidates to have to become employees, meet prospective employees in person without having to offer them a job, receive resumes and mentor students along their career path.

Most large companies have a Human Resources (HR) Department and the process of hiring new employees is both time consuming and expensive. CareerKamp can provide each company employee who have career seeking children as a prospective CareerKamp applicant. Good news travels fast and cuts down on marketing costs.

Linkedin registration can provide a constant flow of company contacts and prospects to visit and marketing links that allow others to contact a CareerKamp Executive for Franchise Prospects.

Establishing a CareerKamp

To establish a CareerKamp Business, an Operator needs to establish the geographic area easiest for students to reach as the student will be required to meet at Company 1 at 9 AM on day one, leave at 12 noon, travel to Company 2 for a 1 pm start and leave at 3 pm. This usually entails a downtown location where 10 large companies are in close proximity and have an office boardroom which can accommodate 10 CareerKamp students and 1 CK rep and 1 company HR rep who will provide a 3 hr presentation.

The HR Rep will work with the CK Rep to provide a company profile, company size, who they market their products to, what their entry level jobs are right up to their upper level jobs and wages that can be expected to earn. Students are expected to take notes for a CC online promotional profile of the company.

The second hour will involve receiving student resumes, one on one interviews to make the student comfortable with the interview process, courses the student should take in higher education via night school or college that can lead to a degree that provide the best chance for an entry level job at this company. The third hour will have each student paired with an existing company employee as the employee performs their job and the student can get an idea of what the job entails.

CareerKamp Employees

CareerKamp requires a Master Franchise Owner, Franchise Manager and a Company Organizer. These three positions can be one and the same person or 3 separate positions and no rented office. An efficient website should provide all the information a participating company, student or prospective franchise owner requires. As all communication can be done via phone, email, text or face to face meeting, expense for an outside office can be kept to a minimum or rent a shared office service or hotel room would suffice.

Encouragement for companies to participate will come from student created company testimonials expressing what they enjoyed about the company and how they are hopeful to receive an invitation to be an intern, part timer or receive summer employment prior to being a full time employee.

Students enrolled in CareerKamp will arrive on time, with resume copies of accomplishments and attired in smart casual work clothing typical of starting any new job, for a best first impression with a new employer. The student should realize they are being judged by each company Rep and employee with a view to being hired in the future. This is both a selection and evaluation process.

The Market

There are approx 3000 cities in North America in both Canada and the USA. Most large cities have names we all recognize, but students are not prepared to drive long distances to participate, so Vancouver, North Van, West Van, Burnaby, New West are examples of suburbs that are included in the 3000 franchisable cities. Assuming a franchise fee of only $1000 per city, the potential revenue could reach $3,000,000 and escalate up to $50,000 to $100,000 per city for a built out revenue could reach $300 Million for all of North America and International sales could triple this revenue.

Franchises have an initial franchise fee and a monthly admin fee to cover guidance and national advertising. The operator of this business will have to determine if this becomes a private company or a franchise. As a franchise, each CK city could be operated without a franchise fee until 4 or 5 locations have become successful and the project has a track record before introducing a franchise fee. Ⓒ 2019 DRG
