Are there any veterinarians on local military bases that provide service to retirees with pets?
Many retirees have pets and sometimes they ask if there are veterinarians on local military bases they can use. Buckley SFB does not have any veterinarian facilities, and there are only two military facilities in Colorado that do, Ft Carson and the Air Force Academy. The info below on these two facilities is off a Health.mil website.
Veterinary Treatment Facilities | Health.mil
USAFA 9037 Husted Dr 719-333-4055
Ft Carson 2535 Sheridan Ave, Bldg 6190 719-526-3803 (on the side of the PX)
Both USAFA and Ft Carson will see pets of military retirees. In each case, to get started, you need to give them a call and they will e-mail you some forms to fill out regarding your pet, then return the forms to them. You will need to have your military ID card before they provide you with any type of service, and everything is by appointment only, no walk-ins.
Each facility offers two types of appointments: Wellness checks (exams, vaccinations, health certificates, etc.) and Sick Call.
You should be aware both of these facilities are very busy and it may take you some time to get an appointment scheduled.
