What is the DOD doing for suicide prevention for veterans?
An incredibly sad fact is that about 17 veterans commit suicide EVERY DAY in this country!
As reported in the VA’s 2024 National Veteran Suicide Prevention ANNUAL REPORT, rates of suicide among those who've served continue to be much higher than the national average – 34.7 per 100,000 in 2022 for veterans compared to 17.1 per 100,000 for non-veterans. That disparity has continued despite prevention campaigns.
