Technology integration is more meaningful and transformative when children can interact with digital tools in a creative capacity, and when they can leverage these tools to exercise their 21st century skills and content knowledge. Children can create screencasts to reflect on learning, demonstrate understanding of a concept, and present work. Invite students to teach each other a concept using a screencast. When a child can take on the role of the teacher and inform others, it's evident that he/she really knows the content.
If you scroll through this blog post, you'll find a few lesson examples in which students could create their own screencasts to demonstrate learning - there's even a kindergarten example that would be totally feasible with IA or SBTS support!
What are some ways that you could use student-created screencasts in your classrooms to promote learning and reflection? Share your thoughts here and feel free to comment on colleagues' posts. Do you have any students who have already created screencasts? Please share links to them on this Padlet, too. This will help inspire your colleagues and aid in the generation of new uses for this tool.
