There are many models of blended learning including the lab rotation, station rotation, individual rotation, flex model, a la carte, enriched virtual, and flipped models. Read and watch the following resources about the models of blended learning that are most relevant to our practice in a public K-6 school. After learning about this model, share your thoughts on the corresponding Padlet regarding benefits and drawbacks of each model.
This is similar to the station rotation, but online learning occurs in a computer lab. Teachers, instructional assistants, and resource teachers can facilitate learning that connects to what students are learning in the face-to-face classroom.
The lab rotation is in frequent practice at FEES! When teachers schedule time in the tech lab (in addition to the regularly scheduled tech special) to work on a project neatly aligned to the activities taking place in the face-to-face classroom, they are implementing the lab rotation model. This is an example of a project that Ms. Kelley's 2nd grade students created and shared as a culminating activity for the social studies unit on American symbols.
