The following materials were products of a collaboration between sixth grade teacher, Courtney White, and myself. We began by showing a few examples of the PSA (entry event) before introducing the driving question.
Next, students generated questions on a Padlet to identify the need-to-knows (NTKs). The questions students devised were addressed by their research and by the teachers on both the Padlet and face-to-face.
Next, students conducted research and created a PSA - either a skit, Infographic, video, or product of their choice. Here are some of the artifacts the students created. We provided scaffolds and supports throughout the process based on students' needs.
The students created products to convey a message about pollution prevention. Notice the variety in the type of product students chose to create.
After public presentation, students reflected on the project and about what they learned.
