El Cementerio de Azul, rico en historia y diversidad arquitectónica, ha pasado por varias etapas. Comenzó como un simple campo santo en la época de la fundación del fuerte. Luego, se transformó en el denominado “Cementerio de los Pobres”, ubicado en el sector sudoeste. Hoy en día, se ha convertido en una necrópolis que atrae a muchos aficionados a la arquitectura y la fotografía.

La recordada portada del cementerio, diseñada por Alberto López Claro y ejecutada por Carlos Dusio, tiene sus orígenes en 1902. Sin embargo, la fachada fue demolida en 1937, en el marco de un plan de reformas para el cementerio.
El Cementerio municipal es el mayor reservorio de esculturas de la ciudad. Predominan las obras en mármol, bronce y cemento, muchas de las cuales fueron ejecutadas por artistas locales. Esta riqueza artística y cultural hace del Cementerio municipal de Azul un lugar de gran interés turístico

The Azul Cemetery, rich in history and architectural diversity, has gone through several stages. It began as a simple cemetery at the time of the founding of the fort. The cemetery's memorable façade, designed by Alberto López Claro and executed by Carlos Dusio, dates back to 1902. However, the façade was demolished in 1937 as part of a plan to reform the cemetery.
