Visitas a Azul de Jorge Bergoglio, hoy Papa Francisco.
El Cardenal Bergoglio visitó la ciudad de Azul en dos oportunidades. Una primera visita la hizo el 20 de agosto de 2006, dejando la ciudad al día siguiente. En esa ocasión visitó el Carmelo, hoy Convento Hermanas Auxiliares Parroquiales de Cristo Sacerdote , donde tuvo un primer encuentro con Blanquita y Miguel (personas vinculadas al clero).
En ese momento quien hoy tiene la investidura pontificia ingresó a la clausura del convento, área donde no se permitía el acceso a cualquier persona, en el lugar fue recibido por las religiosas que esperaban a la autoridad máxima de la Iglesia de Argentina.
Durante ese mismo año, Azul viviría un acontecimiento de gran importancia: el Cardenal Bergoglio iba a ordenar al nuevo Obispo de la Diócesis de Azul, el designado para el cargo era el presbítero Hugo Manuel Salaberry, que pertenecía a la orden de los Jesuitas, la misma congregación religiosa a la que pertenece el Papa Francisco.
Los fieles reunidos alrededor de la Iglesia Catedral, fueron los protagonistas de uno de los hechos más importantes que la ciudadanía en su conjunto recordaría por muchos años, la visita del Cardenal, quien algunos años después, precisamente en el año 2013, fuera elegido como la nueva autoridad de la iglesia católica en el mundo.
En el mes de diciembre del año 2012, Jorge Bergoglio incursionó nuevamente en la ciudad de Azul. En esta oportunidad acompañó a Monseñor Hesayne en la celebración de reconocimiento pontificio del Instituto Cristífero.
Llegado a la ciudad transcurrida las primeras horas de la tarde, Bergoglio fue conducido al Centro Catequístico Santa Teresita ubicado en la esquina de las calles Industria y Salta, lugar donde visitó la imagen de la Virgen de Nuestra Señora de la Sonrisa, donada y bendecida por el hoy Papa Francisco.
Esa misma tarde, el Cardenal Bergoglio visitó la capilla de la Virgen de la Medalla Milagrosa para luego llegar a su destino final que sería el Obispado. La Virgen, es figura de veneración para por Su Santidad.

Visits to Azul by Jorge Bergoglio, today Pope Francis.
Cardinal Bergoglio visited the city of Azul on two occasions. He made his first visit on August 20th, 2006, leaving the city the following day. On that occasion he visited, today the Convent of the Auxiliary Parish Sisters of Christ the Priest , where he had his first meeting with Blanquita and Miguel (people linked to the clergy).
At that moment, the man who now holds the papal office entered the cloister of the convent, an area where access was not permitted to anyone. There he was received by the nuns who were waiting for the highest authority of the Church of Argentina.
During that same year, Azul would experience an event of great importance : Cardinal Bergoglio was going to ordain the new Bishop of the Diocese of Azul, the one designated for the position was the priest Hugo Manuel Salaberry, who belonged to the order of the Jesuits, the same religious congregation to which Pope Francis belongs.
The faithful gathered around the Cathedral Church were the protagonists of one of the most important events that the citizens as a whole would remember for many years, the visit of the Cardinal, who a few years later, precisely in 2013, was elected as the new authority of the Catholic Church in the world.
In December 2012, Jorge Bergoglio visited the city of Azul again. On this occasion, he accompanied Monsignor Hesayne in the celebration of pontifical recognition of the Cristífero Institute .
Arriving in the city in the early afternoon, Bergoglio was taken to the Santa Teresita Catechetical Center located on the corner of Industria and Salta streets, where he visited the image of Our Lady of the Smile, donated and blessed by today's Pope Francis. That same afternoon, Cardinal Bergoglio visited the chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal before arriving at his final destination, which would be the Bishopric . The Virgin is a figure of veneration for His Holiness.
