South African Airways (SAA) Museum

Rand Airport Transvaal Aviation Club Building, Germiston, 1419

Date of visit: 2nd December 2017

Founded in 1986, the South African Airways Museum Society (SAA Museum Society) was formed by individuals working at South African Airways (SAA) and other parties interested in the preservation of SAA history and South African civil aviation. The interest started when SAA bought a Junkers Ju-52 in 1981, the museum restored the aircraft to flying condition and have subsequently been active in preserving SAA history. As well as displaying their collection of static aircraft the museum also houses a collection of SAA memorabilia, photos and aircraft scale models

Funding to the museum is helped by renting out the aircraft interiors for corporate functions, which was sadly the case when I arrived and the museum had closed early! So below are shots from the outside!
