POP ART PORTRAIT IN PHOTOSHOP

This is an example of my Elon Musk Pop Art Portrait.

Step 1

Choose a black and white photo of a person you admire.
Make sure that it is a high quality photo, clear and not pixelated.

Step 2

Even though the photo is black and white you must make sure your IMAGE - MODE is set to RGB or CMYK color so that you can add color to the image.

Step 3

Right Click on your Background Layer and Convert layer to Smart Object.

Step 4 & 5

Go to your Layer Menu and select New Adjustment Layer
and then Threshold.

Adjust the Threshold menu until you are happy with the new effect.
Try to adjust the menu until there is a fair balance of black and white in the portrait image.

Step 6

Go to the Layer menu then New Adjustment Layer then Gradient Map.

Step 7 & 8

Open the Properties window and Click on the Gradient Bar shown in the image above.

When you Click on the Gradient in the Properties Window the Gradient Editor will open. By clicking on the small swatches on the bottom of the Gradient Bar you can change the color of your image.

Step 9

Go to the Layer Menu then New Fill Layer then Pattern.

Step 10

Use the Pattern Fill menu to choose the pattern that will lay on top of your portrait. Click the small GEAR ICON to open more pattern styles.
