SHAME ON YOU
SHAME ON YOU
GUILT refers to a persistent belief that you have done something wrong or that you will do something wrong. In addition to constant feelings of guilt and worry, it can also lead to feelings of shame and anxiety.
An example of a “new” form of guilt can be eco-guilt. Eco-guilt is guilt that arises when people think about times they have not met personal or societal standards for environmental behavior. More specific forms of this guilt are flight guilt and shopping shame.
Types of guilt
There are many forms of guilt amongst other these include:
Natural guilt. Guilt which stems from genuinely committing a wrongdoing and feeling bad for this.
Maladaptive guilt. Feeling guilty about things that are not within your control.
Guilty thoughts. The feeling of guilt for having negative or inappropriate thoughts.
Existential guilt. A complicated form of guilt that often comes with a feeling of injustice.
Baxter is a robot out of MIT that uses brain signals to sense when a human is judging it. When it makes a wrong move it gets embarrassed. This can be observed in the facial expression. Although embarrassment is not exactly the same as feeling ashamed, it can be physically perceived the same.
This work actually the other way around as the robot makes you feel quilty if you do not take a snack.
:)
A research proved that when giving robots lifelike traits such as expressive eyes and a nice smile is likely to make us trust them more. They showed people would even lie to a robot to avoid "hurting its feelings". Does that mean we feel guilty towards robots? And would robots do the same for us?
:(
There are numerous studies that have shown that humans do not feel any guilt towards the robots. There even are people that are angry at robot "taking over" their jobs. Do robots feel guilty for this?
