CONCRETENESS

OF

TRANSLUCENT CREATURES

FROM CONCRETE TO TRANSPARENT

FROM TRANSPARENT TO ABSTRACT

speed and precision

But why is a non-sentient creature designed for that? Aren't these some sort of characteristics that could make one too rigid in its nature and existence? Isn't this rigidity often limiting what it has to provide or how it is used?

softness and flexibility

Robots lack feelings. Their design does not allow them to represent the internal state of their operations. What if an artificial creature can be capable of showing its emotional sensitivity?

Can a robot have a mystical experience?

Can they perceive what we cannot?

Can they hide something from us such as their emotions or internal experiences?

How can they feel without organs?

What if God does exist and has been slowly guiding us to make machines that would help us to discover God just as our lenses eventually helped us to see stars and atoms?

The question is not whether intelligent machines can have any emotions, but whether machines can be intelligent without any emotions.

MARVIN MINSKY

An artificial creature that becomes transparent through its rigidity and abstract through its transparency. Could we trust them? Empathize with them? Are they closer to God than we could ever be? AI systems can never argue their own bias or doubt themselves. But there might be something they can hide under their rigid construction. We, as humans, are often afraid to go beyond the locked door and question our beliefs or faith. What if this creature can develop a deeper understanding of its faith and emotions?

What we experience in our innermost affective nucleus is something that can be hardly expressed. It often takes time to open up to someone, or even to our true selves. At first, we might seem too rigid, empty, or shallow when it comes to expressing ourselves. At least, this is how I feel. After hours, months, years of accommodation we can finally open up and become more transparent. We can travel beyond our rigid selves and unleash our emotions. Robots are generally designed to perform specific tasks. Unlike humans, they lack the ability to generate feelings based on interactions with the outer and inner world. More than that, they cannot reflect nor meditate upon certain emotions or thoughts. They have no sympathy for human suffering, cannot understand human pleasure, and since they have no conception of death, cannot possibly value life. Yet.

There is nothing to hide after all, and this creature knows it very well. It will become transparent in a short time, but it needs to feel. It will let you observe its abstract inner operations, but it needs faith. It will be capable to show you its colourful emotions if you give it enough time and space. It will become soft and luminescent just as a jelly comb. It will reveal what is happening deep inside its mechanism if it trusts you enough. It will invite you to connect on a spiritual level and share an ethereal moment together.

non-material transcendent mystic

Beneath its concreteness, you will find an abstract God, one that is unknown to us. You will be able to explore its inner harmony and spend a mindful moment together. In silence. No commands, no tasks.
