I chose Emma Darling Cushman because I thought what she did helped so many children by saving them from death and giving them a home to go to. She possessed relentless courage, compassion, and resolve. She rescued thousands of orphans and helped them by rescuing them from Turkish homes. The Armenian Genocide was the destruction of the Armenian people and their identity in World War I by the Ottoman government. A lot of Armenian children were killed by getting strangled and burned. This took place around 1915. Emma stepped in when no one else did and saved the children from being killed. This is why she is a great person.
Emma was a woman who stepped in and helped save all of these Armenian children who lived on the streets and placed them in safe homes. When she ran out of space, she decided to turn her hospital into an orphanage and saved the lives of over 1,000 children.
In my art piece, Emma is holding the hands of the children that she saved, showing that she is a kind person and took her time to help save these kids. She possessed relentless courage, compassion, and resolve. She rescued thousands of orphans and helped them when no one else was willing to.
I think my Unsung Hero has influenced my outlook on life because she saved so many children. She taught me to always help people that are struggling. I hope that her story influences everyone to help people that are in need.
