TASK: CREATE A PIECE OF ART

ACTIVITY 1: LET’S BEGIN THINKING ABOUT THE FEATURES AND FORMAT OF OUR PIECE OF ART

As in Christopher Columbus’ times photography did not exist, we do not have a photo of his person or the arrival to America by the Spaniards. Nevertheless, different artists have painted him in their pictures. Next, you have several pictorial works representing Columbus

IN THE SHOES OF…

The artists also have two options: in pairs, to do a piece of art as if you were natives and in which you will express, in your creations, the arrival of the Spanish to America (what you were feeling, what you were afraid of, what you were dreaming...), or to produce a piece of art as if you were in the conquerors´shoes expressing in their works, their arrival to these new lands. Now you have a few suggestions which can help you to create your piece of art.

Look at the control sheet below, in which specific guidelines are given before starting to work. This control sheet will also be of great usefulness at the moment of evaluating your piece of art by the teacher and by your classmates.

ACTIVITY 2: A STOPOVER: WE WRITE IN OUR LEARNING DIARY.

You are going to do a stopover to think over about what you are learning, how you are learning it and if you need any help to solve a specific topic or to learn it in a more efficient way. Thus, you have the Learning Diary, a tool that is going to help you to self-evaluate your learning process. It is convenient that you answer all the questions of your diary in an individual way.

This Learning Diary can be checked whenever the teacher or you consider it appropriate.

ACTIVITY 3: WE FINISH THE PIECE OF ART

After doing a reflection on what you have done up to now, and having solved the mistakes, with the help of a classmate and the teacher finish your work of art.

ACTIVITY 4: WE EXPLAIN OUR PIECE OF ART TO THE REST

You are going to choose the way to present your work. The creativity and the ingenuity you have invested on having done your work of art, you can also make use of them when you show it and explain it to your classmates.

With the work in front, you will explain the topic of your work, what it represents, by what you have been inspired or whom you have inspired, what materials you have used and why, what feelings you have wanted to reflect.... Also, you can take pics of your work and edit a small video with comments and music in PHOTO PEACH...
