#1. How to role-play in General.

The most important step in role-playing is grammar, and the usage of quotation marks instead of asterisks. In fact, using asterisks is the most absurd method for role-playing, only making you look like an immature retarded dinosaur with T-Rex arms. You refuse to type more because it’s ‘tiring’, when really, it’s worth more than *dodge*..

So try and use a tweezer or something to pull that asterisk key out, if you’re so attracted to it. No one in the eSports level role-playing community wants to see asterisks as a form of character’s actions. Instead, just type it out. Here, this is a good example.

What NOT to do:

Demons: *fires flaming balls at Araxas* Die plz

Araxas: *dodges* No way I’m dying in a place like this lol

What TO do:

Demons: As they attempt to fire flaming balls at Araxas, they scream the words, “Die, die!”

Araxas: Even with his strength worn out, he manages to barely escape the wrath of the fire balls, hearing the demon’s chanting loud and clear. “Heh.. funny, but I can’t die yet.” Araxas said, a light smirk on his face.

That’s a good example, I think. You can also do this, if you want to be fancy.

Araxas: /Even with his strength worn out, he manages to barely escape the wrath of the fire balls, hearing the demon’s chanting loud and clear/ “Heh.. funny, but I can’t die yet.” /Araxas said, a light smirk on his face/

Anyways, you get the idea. Reducing the use of asterisks is one of the most important steps in role-playing, and I’m not just talking about cortex. I’m talking about role-playing in general, and how bad asterisks are compared to bullshit like *dodge*. Please take this into consideration and try not using them during your next role-playing section. Some twelve year old kids might think asterisks are okay, but I was fucking eleven when I realized asterisks make role-playing look like some childish shit.

With that out of the way, let us head to our next section.

#2. How to make a decent character. ( MOST IMPORTANT )

Note that this one might be quite long.

In my personal opinion, I believe that this is the biggest trouble some people have when it comes to storytelling, lore making, and character design. And by character design I do not mean modeling, but the way you describe/show your character. For all we give a fuck you can have a ghost unit with a great backstory, that also explains what his normal attiring is and how he/she looks like. Remember: majority of having fun in role-playing comes from the story, not the model.

The first step we’re going to look over is how to @renameall your character, into a fancy design.

I personally prefer @setname. And I personally prefer it if the lobby had ⅞ people, to reduce clusterfuck of bad roleplayers roleplaying in seven different regions. So either way, setname is quite the useful tool. And if it’s broken due to the high number of players, well that’s too fucking bad I can’t help you there.

Here is an example alias you can use to test it out.

alias create -HestiaStart @addbehavior levels;@renameall <s val=”Kicker_Zerg”> <c val=”FF0000”> Kara Hestia </n> <s> <c val=”666666”> =Wireframe= </n> </n> Age: 22 </n> Interests: Not Much. </n> Dislikes: Alcohols, Divine Deities, and shit roleplayers. </n> </n> </n> </n> </n> </n>

"give your meat a good ol' rub"

alias create -HestiaStart ab levels;rename "spred" "red" Kara Hestia n <s> "666" =Wireframe= n n Age: 22 n Interests: Not Much. n Dislikes: Alcohols, Divine Deities, and shit role-players. n n n n </c>

Useful Aliases you can use to make this shorter:

Alias create n </n>

Alias create “spred” <s val=”Kicker_Zerg”>

Alias create ab @addbehavior

Alias create “666” <c val=”666666”>

Alias create “red” <c val=”FF0000”>

Alias create rename @renameall

And so on. Also note that Kara Hestia is my character, but I will allow the public community to use it if they wish. But try and make your own character, as it is better.

So, basically, if you @spawn a unit and type ‘-HestiaStart’ while clicked on that unit, you’ll get the info on the character. Pretty useful, aye? #aliaspower

And if you want to do @say and start role-playing, just do @setname "red" Kara Hestia. Let us get to the @subtitle part, and this is where shit gets real son.

do u even subtitle bro? -Rihavein

Alias create @subtitle sub

Rihavein's Rules of Subtitling

  1. Don't be Gary / Mary Sue
  2. Don't ever reolpaly as jim raner
  3. Oh look, he defeated a God, and now lives in Tramathir for some reason.
  4. *God-slaying Holy Excalibur*
  5. *Apparently owns a Excalibur that can harm angels*
  6. "give your meat a good ol' rub"

Okay, most of them weren't serious obviously.

Some people would ask me: "how2subtitle long", and I usually just answered back with "Chaining aliases". Some people, who are actually talented and were raised right by their parents would take the key word "chain", and try to teach themselves on what that means. But then again, it's hilarious when some people do shit like this:

alias create -BobInfo1 @subtitle <s> Bob likes pie and apparently wields a demonic Excalibur that slayed Lucifer and his demons. Thus, the demons won and Bob was crowned King. However, Bob was still bullied at his school. -BobInfo1

lol

No, that's not what I meant by chaining aliases... Anyways, if you have done that it's okay. Everyone makes mistakes and that's where you learn from, so there's really no reason to grieve and cry like a lil' bitch on how bad you are at cortex.

---------------------------

alias create -BobInfo1 @subtitle <s> Bob likes pie and apparently wields a demonic Excalibur that slayed Lucifer and his demons. Thus, the demons won and Bob was crowned King. However, Bob was still bullied at his school.

alias create -BobInfo2 Even though Bob, the Devil King was still the highest ranking in Heaven, Bob was not satisfied and decided to try and reach for godhood. Even if he was powerful, Bob could never beat Jesus Christ, the man that created God,

alias create -BobInfo3 who sent his son to sacrifice for the ogres. His legends and myths were forever sealed away in a codex, an alternative bible that Jesus kept to savor his hidden powers.

alias create -BobInfo4 Bob lost to Jesus and was still stuck as King of Heaven, after getting his ass rubbed by Jesus. n n -rihavein's best char

alias create -Bobinfo1 -Bobinfo2 -Bobinfo3 -Bobinfo4;@setname Bob the Builder

---------------------------

Hopefully you get the idea.

That's how you chain subtitles into making a long lore for your character. Remember to be unique and use personality in your character. Never be cliché, and use your imagination. For true beauty comes from the original, not a copy.

unless ur worse than saf at rp, than u better start copy+paste

luci is worser than me -saf

Here is a list of lore I've seen that just makes me want to stop playing cortex.

  • *slayed a god in the past, +is a demon general*
  • *elf that wants to be a guardian for some damn reason*
  • *"I came to Tramathir to find something..."never clarifies what, but usually a crystal cause y not*
  • Lako ( Rice's half japanese/elf character )
  • pet rp
  • sigh, like, ten more+++++

Okay, seriously. Cringe isn't exactly the best material when playing cortex. Not only does it terminate the fun, but it makes some people want to start bashing on that specific character. Or at least I do.
