Images

This guide is relevant to using "pictures" and either posting them in chat for whatever reason, and or using them in your hud/subtitle.

The base command would be: . Note that all SC2 image files follow the syntax of a filepath in the SC2 folder (usually Assets\Textures\) a file name, and then .dds, the image file used for textures.

Pictures work in a similar way to WireFrames. I will provide you with a single image below as an example:

You can find other pictures in the editor. I will explain what I mean.

When you have the editor open,

Go to map Info > Loading Screen in the menu bar (the one that begins with File, Edit, etc. The Loading Screen option will be in the tab dropdown.) Click on Images, and you will see the millions of available images there. Unfortunately, you must select all of your images from this library and a small collection of images used in the cortex library, however these are mostly images of selected players who have contributed to the creative process involved in evolving the engine. Remember, you can see the image preview in the editor, but these images will look different in the character screen. Experiment to find images that are most appealing to your needs. Stylistically speaking, I generally use decal images, given that they tend to be the most generally usable. You will find a lot of odd images in the browser that are actually designed to be projected onto three dimensional models in the game itself.

You can also have both editor and Starcraft open at once if you log into the editor first, and then click on the Starcraft II logo outlined in green on the top tab.

I encourage you to look through these images and find descriptions that you believe to capture the icons you believe to develop your roleplaying.

Remember, the point of using images is to augment to roleplaying experience for everybody in the lobby. Be liberal with image use as you see fit, but make sure it is capturing relevant information and not simply to inflate the total description size.
