SeroBliss's Modeling Guide

Hi boys and girlthings. This is the first real guide which goes over various datatypes present in starcraft 2, and their relevance/importance to CortexRP. This is something even most "good" modelers completely fail to understand, even though it's a massive assist if you do comprehend it.

In Starcraft 2 there are a lot of datatypes, these datatypes are things like, sounds, models, weapons, footprints, actors, units..the list goes on, however whats most relevant to modeling are actors, and models.

Models are things that carry animations, and the visual aspect of things, they do not carry the trigger for animations, however some models such as marinedeath can pause animations on any model modelswaped after marinedeath has been modelswaped. for instance if you

@spawn marine;@modelswap marinedeath;@modelswap marine

That marine no longer has any animations that will trigger via actors. Though this is not always the case, but for 90% of the time marinedeath works as advertised.

Actors are the things you attach with. They also are are collections of various datatypes, such as model, sound and other things, they effect animation on anything they're modelswaped too. For instance, if you attach a beacon_terran, and modelswap it to marine that beacon_terran has the inbuilt loop of stand, walk, and attack, maybe others but point is, with that actor your marine will walk, stand and attack appropriately. Now if you were to do the same modelswap but on the actor science vessel, you would notice your marine no longer has an attack animation event even when an attack is triggered.

Actors also carry the death animation shits, so no matter what you @modelswap the actor to, whatever it was originally will be it's death animation unless you replacemodel the model the death event uses.

P.S.
