In the past, I assigned students select chapters from different OER textbooks for each of the four sub-disciplines of anthropology. This meant students were reading some chapters out of some books and other chapters out of other books. I created study guides (in the form of Google Docs) that went along with each chapter. This was a lot for students to keep track of. First, these study guides simply outlined the major topics, concepts, and definitions from the textbook chapters. Then, I started providing additional concepts and examples beyond those that were in the textbook. Eventually, I decided to drop the OER and only have students use the online materials, which are now in the form of this Google Site online textbook. This site is a work in progress. Definitions and examples are admittedly brief. It is my hope that students will take the ideas presented here and do their own investigation into these topics. I used ChatGPT as an editor.
