Jasmine Thompson midterm review
The shifting focus on this is incredible. It was well timed with the audio, subtle but mesmerizing to watch. Very NatGeo. Was the match-cut intentional or just very well done framing?
I loved the light sources on this! There was a lot of intensity and movement created by the moving spotlights/different light filters.
I know this is also from the animatic but I love the rhythm of the objects in this lab and I think it would have been great for the final cut too.
I would have made this shot a little longer, and instead of a cut wiped upwards with the bubbles. Fading the audio down (not quite an L-cut, I dig the bubble layer) on the audio might help soften the transition.
These! Are! Awesome!
I don't really have much because these were for the animatic anyways, but this is incredibly cool and you should brag about it. I think the lack of a background worked with your movements nicely.
I feel like if this was a zoom in instead of a cut, or used a dissolve for a softer transition it would have really added to the slower/more appreciative tone.
I loved your transitions in the animatic! I see that you went with a different tone for the final cut, but the timing of your transitions with your audio was well done, and I loved seeing the setup/gear.
I think the lack of framing/background was an excellent choice. Most of these guys have such beautiful symmetric lines on their own, and it worked out well for match-cuts.
Chance Newman midterm review
I like this intro: the layered image fading in over the abrupt audio start was a nice blend of intense but not overwhelming.
This transition was great! A dissolve with an abrupt shift in focus, it was well timed with the audio for a transition.
I would have framed this just a tiny bit differently; widened the screen to the left for sure, possibly below as well. I do like the movement/lights, however.
I love the audio transition here! Increasing the noise with the weather added a nice intensity/variation in the audio. I think I would zoom in a bit on the bus and use it for a passing transition.
The leading lines and framing are excellent here!
This was an excellent way to transition between stories with both an audio and a visual cue. It faded in and out at a great volume! Using a wipe to keep everything rolling towards the left would help the flow.
The color seems more washed out, was it intentional or rendering issues? I think it makes the light and audio effects more apparent, and detracts a bit from how overwhelming the frequent visual cuts can get.
I don't know why there's a Furby, but I like it! Excellent framing with the 1/3s rule, but I would wipe the next scene towards the left(anchored side).
