night scene on a lake shore, bright lights in the sky
stranger approaches
stranger sits to admire the lights
a light approaches the stranger
the stranger places the light in a jar, the other lights fade away
as the light inside the jar fades, the other lights return(time is passing, repeat shots 4-6)
another light approaches, the stranger lifts this light to the others instead
the light spreads from the firefly to the stranger, the lights above get brighter
Enjoy this rough draft that I madly sketched out in the grocery store parking lot. Whenever the muse strikes, I guess.
This animatic is made from screenshots of the storyboard, placed and timed along to the song. There may be some minor changes to the layout of the background or placement of the lights as I create and adjust the media. I also want to clean up the audio before the final movie. The song used is a cover of Radiohead's 'Creep' by Melanie Martinez.
This idea has been rattling around for months, so I'm glad I finally had an excuse to do it(i.e. a deadline for motivation). It's a 2D stop-motion film using multiple forms of media. I knew from the beginning that I wanted a different media for the scene and the moving objects, but I hadn't decided before I started. I have since realized that I hate glitter, and this is not the vision I had. I'll be re-doing this(digitally or live-action with effects), but enjoy for now!
The canvas is resting horizontally on a stand, with a warm white room light above it. A white spotlight is above the painting to emphasize the glitter's reflection. I thought the tree would help frame the scene, but it felt too crowded so I removed it. The are only a few lines visible in the scene-horizontal and diagonal- dividing the frame into thirds and leading the eye to the center of the canvas.
