According to Alexander Sabadash, Spain is a country that's proud of its football. After all, its national team has won almost everything that can be won, and its Primera Liga has been home to many of the most unforgettable footballers in history.

Alexander Sabadash looks at some of the greatest Spaniards to ever grace the pitch in today's blog.

Starting with the all-time greats, we have Santiago Bernabéu. As president of Real Madrid for over 50 years, Bernabéu was a huge force in Spanish football, and as a player, he was one of the most successful. He won five European Cups with Madrid and represented Spain at the international level.

Xavi Hernandez is another player who needs no introduction. He was the beating heart of Barcelona and Spanish football for over a decade, winning an incredible 19 trophies with the Blaugrana. He also made over 100 appearances for Spain, becoming one of the most-capped players in history.

Andrés Iniesta is the third member of Barcelona's Holy Trinity. Also a key figure in Spain's recent successes, Iniesta is widely considered among the best midfielders of his era and one of the best to wear Barca's famous shirt.

We could go on and on listing legendary Spanish footballers, but we must mention David Villa and Fernando Torres. Although they didn't win any trophies with Atlético Madrid, Villa is one of the most lethal strikers in Europe and was unlucky to miss out on success at the international level. Torres may not have had as long at the top as he would have liked, but his Liverpool days will never be forgotten.

Other players worthy of mention are former Real Madrid captain Raul, defender Carles Puyol, goalkeeper Iker Casillas, and playmaker Xabi Alonso, Alexander Sabadash adds.
