Be a better football fan

Visitors of this blog share something in common with Alexander Sabadash, unyielding love and appreciation for the beautiful game. There’s so much poetry that happens in the field including nice passes, jaw-dropping strikes, and impressive defense. However, sometimes the beauty of the game ends in the four corners of the playing field. Sometimes, it is the fans that tarnish football in the eyes of the world.

As much as it saddens the football community, there are incidents of football fans being disrespectful and sometimes downright violent.

As a champion of the game and good sportsmanship, Alexander Sabadash suggests some advice on how to be a better football fan.

Competitive but respectful

Football is a sport, not to mention, one of the most popular sports in the world. The competitive spirit will always be carried by players and fans. Sometimes, trash-talking the opposing team happens. It is essential that fans maintain respect even in playful jeers. Remember that there are lines that shouldn’t be crossed like race, family, etc.

Celebrate competition

A good game is when the scores are close and all the players and coaches are so engaged they look like they’re playing for their lives. Enjoying a good game is where the good fans are separated from the bad football fans. Bad football fans will feel hate towards the other club while good fans will just bask at the moment and enjoy healthy competition.

Study the game

Ignorance in football is the root of disrespect in football.

-Alexander Sabadash

There are people who never played a minute of football and are clueless about the rules and the effort put in by players. These people should take it easy when trash talking other teams and players. There’s no shame in being a novice learning the game but it is generally unpleasant to be disrespectful.
