Contents of bags:
Twenty individual bags will be prepared for guests to receive upon waking in the morning. Each bag must be labeled with the specified BREAKFAST DATE. It is best to include shelf-stable items, such as:
Single-serve cereal boxes (include shelf-stable milk)
Crackers or chips
Dried fruit (raisins, dried cranberries, etc.)
Bread items (bagels, English muffins, etc.)
Bars (granola, protein, fruit, etc.)
Applesauce
Fresh fruit (softer preferred)
Beef jerky
Trail mix
However, if necessary, bags can also contain:
Yogurt
Cheese sticks
Hard-boiled eggs
Cream cheese
For items requiring refrigeration, please package them separately and label the package clearly with "SHELTER BREAKFAST" and the BREAKFAST DATE so that staff can refrigerate them appropriately. The shelter will supply all plates, bowls, and utensils, so there is no need to bring those items. Additionally, coffee for guests will be provided by the shelter and should not be included in the bags.
Breakfast delivery:
Grab-and-go style breakfasts can be delivered to shelter staff at the specific shelter location between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on the night dinner is served. Each breakfast bag and refrigerated items in a separate bag should be labeled (see above). Most breakfast items should be shelf stable and ready to eat. Feel free to pack as many items as possible into each bag, and be creative in what you include!
