"Common Sense" Thomas Paine, 1776

H: This was written during the time of the American Revolution. During this time colonists believed that the British were not doing a proper job caring for them. During this period, the american colonists were trying to gain independence from Britain.

A: Thomas Paine was likely trying to address the general public of the inforation about how England is colonizing and creating an imperial system for the American colonies. It highlights how England is trying to control every aspect of their lifestyle. He wrote this piece to show that New England colonies and British colonies to allow independence in the colonies.

P: The perspective of this article is from Thomas Paine. From the article, it is clear that Paine has some very strong beliefs. From this, it can be assumed that Paine was a big activist, and has many ideas of which he writes some of them such as his belief in religion.

P: His purpose is to convince people, especially those who are uncertain whether or not the colonists should split from their original country. He is stating that America would be better off independent than still be with Britain. He wants the colonists to see Britain as a threat.
