The Holocaust was the systematic murder of Europe's Jews by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Second World War. For the first time in history, industrial methods were used for the mass extermination of a whole people. Jewish people recieved harsh terrible treatment . The plan to put them in concentration camps was not very known to the American government. The concentration camps were discovered when ally troops were retrieveing land from Germany. I believe that once American governments have discovered the concentration camps, they had enough information to intervene because they now can see that it was a humanitarian crisis.
