The American Revolution is a controversial topic on whether or not it was revolutionary; it seperate the North American colonies from Great Britain For example, the American Revolution was not a social revolution like the one in France because it didn't drastically change the old foundations. Many things remained the same even after we gained independence from Britain such as the fact that women still didn't recieve rights to vote or have any form of salary similar to men at the time. Politically, the American Revolution carried significant and historic consequences. The Revolution established a republican form of government out of what had been a monarchical and colonial political system. During the colonial period, only a very small number of white men enjoyed the right to vote. Also, political participation was low.
