Rio Rico

The first-ever 4-H Underwater Robotics Camp held by the Santa Cruz County 4-H program took place at Rio Rico High School. Led by 4-H Agent Norma Ruiz, 4-H STEM Specialist Gerardo Lopez, and supportive Rio Rico High School faculty, the camp gave local youth an opportunity to build fundamental engineering and teambuilding skills. The students spent their time joyfully tinkering with underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs),  learning technical abilities like operating the ROVs through hands-on activities. By applying their new expertise to navigate the underwater robots, the youth gained practical experience that both enriched their scientific knowledge and allowed them to have fun with their peers under the guidance of 4-H and school staff.
