The National 4-H Conference, known as "Ignite," is a prestigious week-long leadership development experience held annually in Washington, DC, bringing together outstanding youth delegates from all 50 states, U.S. territories, and Canadian 4-H programs. During this transformative event, delegates engage in workshops focused on leadership development, participate in policy discussions, meet with federal officials and congressional representatives, and work in mixed-state groups to address current issues affecting youth and agriculture. Participants have opportunities to tour national monuments, visit Smithsonian museums, and network with peers while developing essential skills in public speaking, civic engagement, and community leadership. Through round-table sessions with USDA leadership, team-building exercises, and collaborative projects, delegates gain a deeper understanding of government processes and leave the conference equipped with action plans for implementing positive change in their local communities, along with enhanced confidence and a strengthened commitment to civic engagement.
