Students participated in an engaging hands-on greenhouse project at their schools, where they combined engineering, sustainable energy, and creative design. Working in small teams, they progressed from basic blueprints to constructing detailed greenhouse models equipped with working solar panels and wind turbines. The project gave them practical experience with technical drawing, landscape design, and renewable energy systems. Over several months, students developed their models while learning about circuit design and sustainable technologies. Beyond the technical skills, they gained valuable experience collaborating with peers and solving real-world engineering challenges. The project culminated in a showcase where students presented their completed greenhouse designs, demonstrating how they incorporated sustainable energy solutions into their models.

My greenhouse sits by the Urubamba River near Machu Picchu in Peru. I chose this site for my topographical map because it’s near a good water source that has a healthy, rich soil. The native Peruvians, who used to live here, built terraces on the side of the mountain where they could irrigate and have plenty of sunshine. This would be a great location to grow strawberries and other tropical fruits in my greenhouse. For vegetables, I would grow corn and peppers. Regular rains in the area keeps the river flowing which is important for any crop.
Have a great weekend!
