Double Diamond: A design process model that consists of four phases: discovery, definition, development, and delivery. Each phase is shaped like a diamond, representing the divergence and convergence of ideas.
Discovery: The first phase of the Double Diamond, where the problem is explored and understood by speaking to and spending time with people who are affected by the issues.
Definition: The second phase of the Double Diamond, where the insight gathered from the discovery phase is used to define the challenge in a different way.
Development: The third phase of the Double Diamond, where different solutions are generated and co-designed with a range of different people, seeking inspiration from elsewhere.
Delivery: The fourth and final phase of the Double Diamond, where the solutions are tested out at small-scale, rejected or improved, and implemented.
Origin: The Double Diamond was created by the Design Council in 2003 as a way of describing the design process and promoting the value of design management as a practice.
