PRAY:

Have someone read Mark 10:45 aloud. After you read it, spend a minute or two silently reflecting on the passage. Then spend some time praying as a group for anything that this passage draws to your mind or stirs up in your heart.

ASK:

  • What hopes do you have for your family?
  • What do you think it means for the church to be a family?
  • Can you share a time when you experienced a sense of family within the church?

READ:

1 Peter 4:7-11

SHARE:

  • Share anything that stands out to you from this passage.
  • In what ways do you think self-control and sober-mindedness affect our prayers?
  • How do you normally respond when someone wrongs you or offends you? Is this the way you would like to respond?
  • What do you think of Peter's words, "Love covers a multitude of sins." It seems pretty profound. Have you experienced this to be true? How has love helped you to overlook an offense or sin against you?
  • What are some things in your life that tend to cause you to grumble? What does grumbling look like in your life: Grumbling to yourself, to a certain person, behind someone's back, to their face, direct, passive, angry, whiny? What's a step you could take to kill some of the grumbling in your life?
  • What is a memorable way that you have been served by someone in your life?
  • What makes it difficult for us to serve one another?

ONE ANOTHERING:

We'll be closing out the Q's & Cues with this question every week. Try to think of some practical needs you can share to give others the opportunity to step up and love you. It's okay if it takes some time to get comfortable with this. It takes time and practice to be vulnerable with one another... but amazing things happen when we are.

  • How can we love or serve one another this week?

PRAY:

End your time by having someone read Matthew 22:37-40 aloud. Spend some time silently reflecting on this passage before you close in prayer.
