The Louisiana Department of Education website has a page with information about district assessments, including a downloadable fact sheet and links to assessment tools and test items that students can use to practice and become familiar with the format of the tests. Although teachers will be familiarizing students with test question formats, it is recommended that you encourage and guide your child to use the tools and sample test items that the state has made available for use at home. Doing that regularly will increase your child's test-taking skillset and confidence.
Please click below to view the information that is available at the website. We recommend bookmarking the page for quick access on your child's computer.
Please consider the following tips and suggestions to ensure your child has the best at-home test prep and the best testing experience possible:
If your child has accommodations, please ensure that only approved accommodations are provided at home so that the student does not become accustomed to accommodations that will not be provided during state test events.
Encourage your child to attend Live Sessions as often as possible, and/or to (re)watch recordings.
Ensure your child is taking advantage of every test-prep opportunity provided by teachers (i.e., study guides, office hours, and additional Live Sessions).
Ensure your child is well-rested, nourished, and hydrated each day of the actual district assessment.
Ensure your child arrives at the test site on time each day of testing.
Computer prep:
Restart the computer or shut it down* each night before the test.
Charge the laptop the night before the test.
NOTE:
If your child has been using a personal device for the majority of the year, please power up the school laptop, log into it, and leave it active for several hours so that it will install software updates that could not be installed while the computer was inactive.
Ensure the laptop and the power adapter are taken to the test site each day of testing.
