University View Academy is a self-contained school district with central office and academic staff. We are located on our multi-building campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as you saw in the campus video tour of "Phase I -- Orientation."
UVA's staff is structured to provide the instruction, resources, and support required for our students to have a positive and productive online learning experience. The central office segment of UVA consists of our superintendent with supporting executive staff support, technology support, a finance office, an employee services department, facilities, and many other department and functions that keep UVA operational in support of your students.
Our school is divided into three school levels – elementary (grades K-5), middle (grades 6-8), and high (grades 9-12). Every school level has a school leader (i.e., a principal), an assistant principal, additional administrators depending on the school level, counselors, and teachers. In addition, all school levels include faculty, specialized programs, and support for our gifted and talented students and for those students who require special education. Our high school has a Freshman Academy, a Technical College program, an Early College program, and traditional high school academic courses.

A Learning Coach is the designated adult who oversees the day-to-day learning activities of our students in the learning environment, wherever that is -- at home, the parent's workplace, etc.
The Learning Coach is typically the parent or guardian.
A parent or guardian can designate another adult to function as the Learning Coach if appropriate (e.g., an adult relative or friend, a hired adult, or a team of adults who share the responsibility). A designated Learning Coach does not replace the parent or guardian. In fact, a student can have multiple Learning Coaches if that makes sense in your situation. We just need to know who the designated Learning Coaches are.
A form must be submitted to Student Services to identify the designated Learning Coach. The form keeps UVA in compliance with federal guidelines for the protection of children (i.e., FERPA) and it permits us to communicate with the designate about the student.
If you need to submit a form, download the appropriate form by clicking one of the following links:
Designated Learning Coach Agreement Form (for one student)
Family Designated Learning Coach Agreement Form (for multiple siblings coached by the same designate)
Designated Learning Coaches receive the same training as parents and guardians so they can be fully functioning members of our team.
