Monitor your child's engagement and performance consistently, ensuring assignments are studied and completed, and ensuring that learning is occurring.
Hold your child accountable for completing school work with integrity and for adhering to the recommended pacing schedule of the Canvas Calendar as closely as possible.
UVA's teachers cannot perform those responsibilities alone (or sometimes at all). You -- the Learning Coach -- can execute the tasks much more effectively because you are with the child. We need you to do those three things. So does your child.
Rest assured, we realize that some of our Learning Coaches are not at home during the day when your children are likely to be studying and completing school work. We also understand that you might not know how to do everything we are recommending above, but do not worry. We provide several suggestions on how to execute the three general responsibilities on the pages that follow. You also have a Learning Coach Partner who provides support throughout the year. And when you need 1:1 support, your Learning Coach Partner will work with you individually. Just ask for help.
