In addition to assessments that occur within a course, UVA students are required to complete school level and/or district level (i.e., state) assessments several times per school year depending on their grade level and other factors. These assessments must be administered to our students to comply with state and federal laws and guidelines for public schools.

These assessments must be administered to our students to comply with state and federal laws and guidelines for public schools.
District assessments measure a student's mastery of course content and/or college or career readiness. They are typically in-person assessments.
School assessments are usually taken online in the student's learning environment. They identify a student's starting point or functional level in select subjects (e.g., math, reading) at the beginning of the year, and they monitor growth as the year progresses.
