The Design Pre-Thesis 1 (Socio-Culture) is an advanced architectural design studio that focuses on the Socio-Cultural theme. It provides a unique opportunity for the students to pursue a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to) community, neighborhood, cultural, heritage, gender, religious, psychological, regionalism, conservation and so on. The emphasis is on a critical architectural research to cultivate greater understanding on forms and spaces specifically from intangible perspectives.

Group Exercise
During Design Pre-Thesis 1, students divided into two groups. Each group will come out with a Site Analysis presentation for their given site A or Site B, which then students to then work on their individual design as per their group site's. Prior to the Site Analysis presentation, all students were to present as one group their case study on socio-cultural aspects of Kampung Baru, which at the end of semester to be submitted as group manuscript report.
