Urban Aviary

“Architecture is produced when building and a culture come into contact thus connect in such a way that something valuable happens” (Ballantyne, 2002). The 'Urban Aviary' design thesis took place in an attempt to reimagine Kampung Baru 'public realm'. Accessible by everyone, this cultural institution building is idealized through the sense of place notion of the proposed site history. It thus embraces a significant part of the overall action plan of Kampung Baru redevelopment. Sits on prominent intersection between Jalan Raja Abdullah and Jalan Sultan Ismail, this urban threshold promotes the culture of 'Birding' by means of 'Placemaking' principles. It is a sanctuary for communal interactions amongst the locals and anyone who enjoys a unique architectural setting at the heart of the city centre. - "in pursuit of vitality and well-being for urban living"
